Why Do We Need Biodegradable Nitrile Gloves
The extensive use of disposable gloves across various industries has led to a significant increase in global glove waste. Conventional nitrile gloves, when disposed of in landfills, can take up to 100-200 years to biodegrade. This contributes to the ever-growing problem of non-biodegradable waste accumulation, posing a severe threat to the environment and wildlife.
Biodegradable nitrile gloves, on the other hand, are designed to break down much faster – within 3-5 years – reducing the environmental impact significantly. The gloves undergo a two-step process of biodegradation. First, the outermost layer of the gloves erodes, followed by the chemical breakdown of the remaining glove material by microorganisms. The end product is a nutrient-rich, water-insoluble food source that the microbial population can consume.
